Ski Lesson!

Did you know a large percentage of Utahns have never been skiing? Are you one of them?

Have you lived in Utah your whole life and never been skiing, but want to learn?

Or did you just move to Utah and wish you knew how to ski?

Or do you know how to ski but not snowboard or vice versa?

Or do you know how to ski but want your kids to learn?

You want to do it but it is super pricey?

Park City Mountain Resort has the perfect program for you.  I grew up in Utah and know how to ski, so I thought it would be a cinch to teach my kids.  Um, not so much.  After some failed attempts, and major frustration, I found the Start Now Program.  Here’s how it works:

* Sign up for your first ski lesson online  for $25.  The first ski or snowboard lesson is a three hour introduction to the sport.  It includes rentals and a lift pass.

* Once you have completed the first lesson, call their lesson reservation number (1-800-545-8112) and you can schedule up to four more lessons for the $25 rate (all lessons have to be taken in the same ski season).  This includes your rentals, all day pass and two hour kid ski/snowboard lessons (ages 6-14) and three hour adult ski/snowboard lessons (ages 15 and older).  *You must be a Utah resident to participate in this program.

This is a sweet deal!  Prices for a regular all-day lesson at Park City (ages 6-14) will run you $215 – for one lesson!  Can you see the value the Start Now Program offers?  My 7 year old took her first two lessons and her skiing ability is leaps and bounds better than when I made my pathetic “teaching my child how to ski” attempt.    Just one of the many benefits of living in Utah!

Freezing cold temps and dumping snow is not your typical camping weather.  But, the anticipation for Park City’s 2010-11 ski/snowboard season made some die-hards tough out Mother Nature’s first major snow storm of the season, for the chance to ride the coveted 1st chair and score fresh tracks.

Park City Mountain Resort, the first of the three Park City ski resorts to open for the 2010-11 season, started this past Saturday with over a foot of fresh new snow, and promises from the weather man for additional feet of snow by mid-week.  Deer Valley is set to open December 4, 2010, while The Canyons opens on December 10, 2010, debuting their latest improvements, including the operation of the newly positioned Red Pine Gondola, the new Orange Bubble Express, as well as the Short Cut, Saddleback and High Meadow lifts.
